Ducks or duking it out!
Today my kids were not getting along at all. I tried separating them inside, no luck, I tried sending them outside, no luck. So I took them to feed the ducks. I don't know why, because when we got to the water I got nervous that they would start fighting and push each other in. Not that the water is deep but, the water is NASTY! Samantha did ask what would happen if they pushed each other in.I started to tell her how upset I would be as she walked away from me saying..."Hold on mom, that duck is all alone."
I was thinking why my kids always "test the water" with how much they can get away with?
However, sometimes they are so sweet to each other. Why can't they just get along ALL the time?
I LOVE my kids and I LOVE being a mom but, I don't know how to teach them how to get along. Feeding the ducks isn't an option everyday. The worst part is that Ben is the worst one! Don't let his cute little hands fool you, they are serious weapons at our house. He LOVES to hit his siblings, almost as much as he loves food.

Happy Birthday Mom

Did I give you your due..
For all that you've done for me
Did I ever thank you?
For all of my childhood memories
For helping me deal with life's stresses
For helping me accept my defeats
And celebrate my successes?
Or for teaching me the value of hard work,
Good judgement, courage, and being true
The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've shared
Did I ever thank you?
If I have forgotten, I'm thanking you now
You taught me right from wrong....
I hope you know how much you're loved and appreciated
I hope you, instinctively, knew all along.
My got together to celebrate the event at my brother's house. We had a great party and I am sure it left my Mom wondering why she had so many kids. Oh wait, I know, she was trying to get a perfect child and it took 6 attempts to reach perfection!
Spring Break
Monday we had great weather so we played outside all day. We walked through the
neighborhood and collected dandelions. We would have gone to the local park but the parking lot looked like Disneyland so we kept our distance.
Tuesday started a theme for the rest of our week. Doctor and hospital visits for Ben. Now he has pneumonia! Samantha and Will have been such troopers while we have gone to the doctor and hospital several times the last few weeks.
Wednesday we went on a "train" ride. We rode trax to downtown Salt Lake City to visit Grandma Marilyn at the conference center. This was also the day taxes were due and TEA parties were held downtown. Samantha wanted to know why people with signs were on the train. Something we don't see often in Pleasant Grove.
We walked around the conference center and saw some art work. Will and Ben checked out the tile work.
The kids did some office duties with Grandma. Samantha asked a man if he was part Japan because his eyes were brown.
Wednesday night and Thursday morning it snowed A LOT! So the kids played in the snow and built a snowman.
Ben still wasn't feeling well and continued to visit the hospital and doctor.
I brought the camera along to document our spring break activities. It amazes me that kids can make any situation fun. A lesson I need to learn from my children.
Thursday is also gymnastics. Samantha is making great progress in gymnastics. I am so proud of the effort she puts forth.
Friday Dave surprised us by taking the day off, this is always welcome! Samantha and Will wanted to to go Kangaroo Zoo. They had a great time and played so well together. I wish I had their energy and zest for life. Ben wasn't feeling well so he wasn't happy until the last 10 minutes.Sunday, April 12, 2009
Happy Easter
We are lucky to have such great neighbors that we love to hang out with! The kids had fun being together and finding eggs. Though I think they would have been just as happy to run around crazy together....they just found the eggs to humor their parents!
I tried to get some pictures of the kids in their Easter clothes but as always it doesn't go over very well.
Ben won't look at me no matter how hard I try and every time I tried to get a picture of the 3 of them together he would either cry or start hitting Samantha and Will. He is such a nice boy!
Will doesn't know how to smile with his eyes open. The more I try and coach him on this issue the more I laugh. This makes him laugh and act even more silly. Thus his photo shoot is a disaster!

Samantha is my only hope since she is older and my only girl. She can't stay out of the mud, wants to climb everything and watch everyone or thing but me!
I guess I do this every now and then just to remind myself why we have no photos of our children in our home!
The Easter bunny did make his annual stop at our home!
This was only after we had to teach our children that the Easter bunny is not like Santa and he doesn't bring I-dogs, I-pods or DSi's!

Despite the looks of it, they were happy with their gifts. Will as I have said often is REALLY stubborn so if you try and help him open a package or swing his new golf club it is all over! As for Ben well....Ben needed a nap!
We closed out the day by doing my least favorite Easter activity....dying eggs! I hate situations I can't control and in my opinion kids with dye and eggs is just wrong. I never did this activity as a child and I totally understand why!
Samantha and Will did have a great time and it kept them entertained for a long time! Ben just wanted to stick his hands in the dye so we found another activity for him.
All in all we had a GREAT Easter. I am so thankful for my family and all the love and laughs they bring me!

Will's Easter Party
William invited Samantha, Ben and I to his Easter party at his school. His school had a party on Thursday and again on Friday.....I wonder if they wanted to celebrate Lent! Because I am a crazy Mom, and am afraid that if we only went one day Will would be sad, we went both days! It was fun to spend time with my three kids in a room full of toys that are new to them! I love being a Mom!

Fun for All
Grandma and Grandpa Harmer had their 24th annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday. Due to a four letter word....SNOW. It was held indoors! The kids all had a great time with their cousins! This was Ben's first hunt. Since the object of the game is to find CANDY he was great at it. He loved every minute and morsel of it!
This was also the first year Samantha didn't need MY help. I am not saying her Aunts and Uncles didn't help her though. I was also amazed at how quickly she got her allotted number of eggs. Since I didn't hear anyone screaming that she stole their eggs I am assuming she did in fact find the eggs.
Will was so focused on the HUNT it cracked me up. You would think he was going after 1 million dollars and not plastic eggs! However, he was just as excited to find a plastic egg as I would have been to find the money!
Will has been bugging me for weeks to go get his motorcycle from my parents house. I gave in and he was been enjoying it ever since.
Ben is still doing breathing treatments and we are taking him to the hospital as needed to get suctioned. He is into hitting his brothers and sisters. When I look at him to get upset with him for hitting he tries to kiss me! This boy can work it!

All I want for Easter is 4 teeth & no RSV

I finally got my hands into Samantha's mouth long enough to get a good grip on the tooth and rip it out. It wasn't very hard since it was hanging on by one little piece. I hope she is done losing teeth for a couple of weeks!
Ben got diagnosed with RSV this morning. His oxygen level is at 92 and as long as it does not go below that we can keep him home. We just have to do the breathing treatments every couple of hours and take him into the hospital twice a day to get suctioned.
Ben and I had to wait a few minutes before he was suctioned this morning so we walked around the hospital. Ben waved to every senior citizen volunteer he could find. On our way out one cute older man came up and gave him a stuffed whale!
I find it crazy that all 3 of our kids have had RSV.

April Fool's Day
Our April Fool's Day had a couple of jokes, some funny and some not so funny.
This is the April Fool's Day joke the kids played on Dave......SUSHI. I told him about it before he got home since it doesn't really look like sushi. He was a good sport. Thanks Babe!
Is holding your child down, restraining them and removing their tooth child abuse? Dave and I have even asked Ben to hit her in the face a few times because if Will did it she would cry. No luck.Ben, Ben, Ben. Ben has two new loves, screaming and Will. Every so often throughout the day he screams really loud. Samantha and Will laugh so he keeps doing it. He is usually quiet so I am glad he is making noise I just wish is was at a different decibel.
Ben loves to follow Will around while Samantha is at school. He loves to lay his head on Will's shoulder or put his forehead up to Will's mouth so Will can give him a kiss. It is so cute and Will is the BEST big brother to him!
